Here are some of the online sources I use:
RTVi
TV Station based in Moscow and New York. Has daily and weekly news and political information shows with a focus on Russia, U.S., Israel and Europe. In Russian. Free.
Echo of Moscow Radio Station
24 hour radio station based in Moscow. Gives bi-hourly news updates. Shows about politics, culture, economics, entertainment and more. In Russian. Free.
Inopressa
Overview and analysis of foreign press articles on Russia and the world. Articles are translated into Russian. Also has its own articles and commentaries.
Lenta
Russian news site owned and operated by the Rambler Media Group.
Newsru
Russian news web site.
Viktor Shenderovich
A popular (though not among Russian government officials) Moscow-based satirist, writer and script-writer. Has a weekly radio show which airs on Echo of Moscow called “Melted Cheese” and a weekly TV show on RTVi called “New Times,” which pokes fun at the lunacy that goes on in Russian politics. Very witty stuff. His shows can be downloaded as audio or video files, or read as transcripts on his web site. In Russian. Free.
Mihail Jvanetsky
An extremely witty and satirical Russian-language humorist who writes about everything from politics to the municipal septic system. This old-timer practically reinvented the genre of satire in the former Soviet Union. An Odessa native, he spends most of the year in Moscow and occasionally travels to perform in the U.S. Think of him as a cross between George Carlin (minus the dirty language), John Stewart, Stephen Colbert and Bill Cosby, but 10 times more funny and witty. (If you ever needed a reason to study/master Russian, he is it!) You can find some of his performances on his web site for free, and purchase books and CDs. In Russian.
Russian Newspapers - a list to links of many online newspapers in Russian.
Stirred Up - an online + print magazine, covers European issues, reflects liberal view points expressed by writers from a younger generation.
